Kenya doesn't
need selling
What's missing is access. We built this to make the outdoors feel reachable not once a year, not as a luxury, but as something you can return to often.
Camping
shouldn't be
complicated
A tent. A plan. A bit of courage.
And suddenly Kenya opens up.
It usually starts the same way. You want to get out - really out. But between park fees, lodges, and logistics, it starts to feel expensive and distant, like something you plan once a year and spend the rest of the time remembering.
Camping changes that. We built this platform to make the first step easier and the next ones even easier. It's a working camping catalogue and journal, keeping you informed and equipped for your next camping trip, and kept honest by people who have first-hand experience.

A living
campsite
catalogue
with 3 membership categories
Our Ibis membership is free and allows you access to benefit A (as described below) i.e. all of our campsite listings, each accompanied by either a website or phone number.
Our Bee-eater membership (coming soon!) will allow you access to everything from A to E for each campsite listing.
Our Turaco membership (also coming soon!) will allow you access to everything from A to F for each campsite listing.
A. Campsites the community has been to
Every listing is a place where either our team or the broader camping community has camped. No aggregation, no guesswork.
D. Wildlife encounters
The stories that don't fit the brochure. Real proximity, real decisions, real outcomes.
B. Honest notes
Including the bad parts - the long drives, the broken facilities, the wildlife that got a little too close.
E. Logistical details
The things that make or break a trip. Gate opening times. Water sources. Where to park. Road conditions.
C. Practical guides
What to pack, what to cook, what to expect written by people who've gotten it wrong first.
F. Latest updates
Giving you the ability to both comment on and access the latest information on campsites.
How
we camp
We keep it simple. We try to streamline packing as much as possible for efficient camping that's gentle on the environment.
We stay versatile. Sometimes we camp at a well-equipped campsite with showers. Sometimes we camp on a patch of ground with no amenities.
We camp sensitively, out of respect for place and people. This includes respecting local cultures, not playing loud music (we prefer the sounds of nature), taking our rubbish and recyclables back home with us for proper disposal (where needed), and giving wildlife space.
We camp with a posture of curiosity, always seeking to learn new things about the places we visit.

The
people
We are a small team who have diverse experience and backgrounds, including in communications and conservation. Most importantly, we all enjoy camping. Each of our team is responsible for a different piece of how this project works.
