We're Back!

Seven years ago, on a drive back from the Aberdares with close friends, we had a conversation that refused to go away. We'd just had a brilliant few days outdoors, feeling relaxed after spending time in nature, away from the noise and busyness and phone service of the city. And on that drive home, we started talking about how we wished there was more organized information about camping.

For a country with such beautiful natural resources, we thought there was an opportunity to promote exploration that was both accessible and affordable. So we started building the beginnings of Camping in Kenya.

Kenya is an extraordinary place to camp, from dense indigenous forests to open savannah, freshwater lakes, alpine trails, and gorgeous coastlines. There are over 1,000 species of birds. There is incredible wildlife. There is flora that rewards anyone who slows down enough to notice it. And there are campsites (some well-known, many not) that put you right in the middle of all of it.

We want to help you find your way into all of that. We're building a practical, honest guide to campsites across Kenya — what's there, what surrounds them, what to bring, and where to get it. But beyond the practicalities, we're here to champion camping as a way of experiencing Kenya that is intimate, affordable, and genuinely good for the soul.

We believe that the community around camping is part of what makes it special. The people you go with, the ones you meet along the way, the shared knowledge that gets passed around a fire. This is a space for Kenyan campers to connect, share what they know, and help each other find the good spots. And underpinning all of it is a real respect for the land. Kenya's natural environment is what makes any of this possible, and how we engage with it matters.

We're launching this as an open invitation. We want your stories, your recommendations, and your company. This conversation started on a drive back from the Aberdares seven years ago and we're starting it up again!
