Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy is located south of the Taita Hills in southeastern Kenya. Established in 1997, this community-based conservation area covers approximately 120 square kilometers and is a partnership between the local community and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The aim is to protect a vital wildlife corridor between Tsavo East and West National Parks. This area is renowned for its large herds of elephants, big cats, colorful birdlife, and an abundance of antelope and other game. For history enthusiasts, there is also a significant amount of World War I history to discover in the area.
Cheetah Campsite provides a welcome respite from the long journey to Lumo, offering solid amenities such as clean and functional toilets, hot showers, firewood, and access to a small kitchenette (though not stocked with utensils). The campsite is just a stone’s throw away from the luxurious Lion’s Bluff Lodge, owned by the same company, and situated atop the same hill. Campers are welcome to visit the restaurant at Lion’s Bluff, relax in their seating area, and take a dip in their refreshing swimming pool, which offers epic and unparalleled views over the vast plains of Tsavo. Note: It's worth checking the updated fees for accessing the restaurant and pool at Lion’s Bluff.
