The Maparasha Hills are located off the highway from Kajiado to Namanga, in a less-visited part of Maasailand. Although the land is completely private, a group of landowners has come together to protect the wildlife population in the hills. At different times throughout the year, this area hosts migrating animals, including elephants, as they move north from Amboseli in search of greener pastures.

Kichaka Camp offers tented, comfortable canvas accommodation options, but you can also camp in their gardens if arrangements are made with the owners in advance. The camp features a large, comfortable living room area, a well-stocked kitchen, and good toilet and shower facilities. The swimming pool is also immensely refreshing. This area is perfect for newer birdwatchers—you’re sure to add several dozen species to your list! If you stay at Kichaka Camp, be sure to take a guided walk into the hills.
