Crater Lake Sanctuary is an excellent choice for families. The campsite is nestled within a forest of leleshwa trees, enclosed by a fence, and offers hot showers and toilets. If you spend a few hours at the camp, you’re likely to receive visitors—zebras and elands just beyond the fence, or the occasional jackal that may intrude, shy and relatively harmless to humans.
Outside the campsite, you can hike around the rim of this small yet ancient and picturesque volcanic crater lake, located not far from the banks of Lake Naivasha. You can also safely walk down to the waters directly, where you might spot a colobus monkey in the acacia trees above. Game drives are available through the acacia woodland, where you can observe a small population of giraffes nibbling on the acacia leaves. The sanctuary exudes a sense of peace and ambience that is refreshing and pleasant, sure to create warm family memories!
