This campsite is nestled in the northern Aberdares and is located along the trail to Mount Satima. It is arguably even more scenic than Twin Peaks, situated right in the midst of the jagged edges of “Dragon’s Teeth”—a notable series of sharp, rocky outcrops known for their towering and almost mystical appearance. While it is colder here than at Twin Peaks, which could be a downside for an overnight camping stay, it is undeniably a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Both campsites offer a truly intimate and remote atmosphere compared to other locations in the park, thanks to the relative lack of foot traffic. The weather can also be unpredictable—especially during the rainy seasons—so be sure to pack accordingly. If it has rained, you can expect to navigate mud and bog through the tussock grass, so make sure to bring gumboots or any type of waterproof hiking shoes.
